Prompt #12

At Cisco, we understand the concern for the safety of the innocent people in China, citizens and visitors alike. We would never intentionally jeopardize the wellbeing of anyone with the distribution of our products.

Cisco is not currently in violation of any exportation regulations regarding supplies to Chinese police agencies. Our company rigorously follows all United States export regulations in terms of what we can and cannot sell to patrons within Chinese borders. We will promptly investigate any claims that we are not abiding by these regulations. However, our treatment of Chinese patrons, including their police forces, is no different than our treatment of the same agencies in any other countries. Current United States export regulations do not have separate stipulations for exportation to China, so our current policies reflect identical treatment of Chinese and all international patrons.

The products provided by Cisco are intended for only safe, virtually harmless purposes. These tools are simply tools, nothing more, nothing less. Like any other tools, they can be used as intended or with malicious intent. It is the responsibility of the consumer to use Cisco tools properly in a safe manner. We cannot control the usage of our tools by Chinese police agencies any more than any other manufacturer can guarantee the use of their products.

If we fail to provide these products to China, they would inevitably receive the tools they need from another agency. In that case, their police forces are just as supplied and have the same potential for danger, but the valuable jobs and profits needed here in the United States could be in jeopardy. Preventing Cisco from selling tools to China exclusively will not rectify any pressing dangerous situation.
