Post 11

Comic Con 2011 is right around the corner. Comic Con is an annual fan convention held in San Diego, California for fans of comics, movies, anime, art and much more. This year the convention will be held July 21 thru July 24, 2011 at the San Diego Convention Center. Let me say again, this is for the fans! As a fan, you need to be there! The Preview Night is already sold out but there is still time to reserve your badge. A four day badge, which gives you admission during the entire event, is $105 per adult, $52 per junior (ages 12-17) and children under 12 are free with an adult. There is also an option to purchase admission for a single day which ranges from $10 to $37, depending on the day and your age.

The convention is a great place to get an autograph from many different stars, writers, producers, and more. A long list of special guests has already been released and the convention is known for having even more celebrities stop by to partake in the festivities. The convention also offers an art show with many drawings, paintings, jewelry, and the unusual. Armatures and professionals submit their works of art for silent and traditional auction. The Exhibition Hall will be packed with thousands of exhibitors offering comics, collectables, games and movies at reasonable prices. Also in the Exhibition Hall are fan tables. At these fan tables you can meet various celebrities and join any club or organization that suits you.

For those who want to attend but maybe can’t afford it, volunteering is always an option. When you sign up to volunteer, you will receive a special volunteer t-shirt as well as free admission on the day you work the required three hour assignment.

Flights from around the country are relatively low in price and hotel rooms are still available. Couch surfing is another way to stay in San Diego on a budget. Sleeping on a couch in a stranger’s house, attending Comic Con 2011 and having a blast while doing it; what could be better?
