This is a bad problem for me seeing as I don't use the mail that often. I cant say I personally would miss no mail on Saturday, but after seeing some reasons why people still want them I will concede its important. I cant think of a way that's completely fair for this. Sadly it seems the only way to keep this fair and happy would be to have people pay a little extra for Saturday delivery's. similar to quick shipping prices. though the customers may be unhappy I don't think getting rid of 80thousand more jobs is any better. Competing with the Internet is similar to fighting the crashing waves I think just because the mail company has been a mountain of power it will eventually get eroded away.
The Internet allowing bill paying, and spam mail is very useful and helpful but its hurting people jobs. I cant think of anything that might make us all happy. It seem we are either gonna have 80thousand people out of jobs or a slightly higher mail bill. I think we should look into more ideas and answers.
I cant see this as any examples of other business changing to suit others needs, really its just to hard to get around the legal issues with mail anyways, to add in incentives or prizes would just be going in the wrong direction. Only way it can be related I believe is that its going to probably have layoffs.
