Hello Team,
Due to the increase of text messaging (sms language) and or short handing an email, there will be a new policy for what is acceptable in the work place. When you are speaking to a customer, co-worker or even boss it is not acceptable to use text language. It comes off very unprofessional and plain lazy. We need to make sure our customers get the utmost respect if we expect them to do business with us. I recently received a complaint from a customer because she could not understand what the email was about.
The email read:
I will have ur bid 4 u by 2morrow morning. Some1 will b n contact w/ u sometime b4 12. If u have ne ?s pls feel free 2 ask.
That does not make our company look very professional now does it. We can not have employees sending out emails that look like this. If a customer is not happy with our business, they will not want to keep doing business with us or spread the word to their friends about us. We here at CCF Investments need to be professional.
How the policy for this will work is that if you are caught using text language to a customer or co-worker
First offense- You will receive a warning.
Second offense- You will be wrote up.
Third offense- You will be suspended for two days.
Fourth offense- You will be terminated.
I understand that technology keeps advancing and new cell phones are coming out that are geared for text messages, but when it comes to work you need to be an adult and be professional. I cannot tell you how to talk to your family, friends, or children outside of work, but during work hours and or work related business I expect you to be professional. Please beware of what you are sending a customer or co-work whether it is via text or email.
If you would normally type this:
im running late, my computer died & I couldnt find da charger. had 2 resend the email 2 u again. b @ the office n 15mins. C ya soon
The correct way to type it would be:
I’m running late, my computer died and I couldn’t find the charger. I had to resend you the emails. I’ll be at the office in fifteen minutes.
We need to make sure to keep the customers happy, that way we can keep their business. Make sure that when sending anything to a customer or co-work that you are spelling everything out no short hand or text language and always remember to spell check.
Thank you,
Courtney Frazee
