In the last several months there has been a long increase of short hand writing in email and instant messaging around the office. It is my concern that some of our business partners are getting some of these emails. I feel that these emails are not professional at all. It seems that we are rushing though these emails and not taking our time and doing them the correct way. Here at Smith Work Placement we pride ourself on our work ethic and doing things the right way. Some of you might not know what I am refering to so here is an example:
Good Mornin Mr. Davis, 2 days ago i was in your office 2 talk 2 u abt our work place and i still had a couple of things 2 run by u. Is there anyway we cud go out 2 lunch tomo so i cud get the paper work started 2 find you a place of work. look forward to hearing from u.
thx J.D Smith
This email was sent out last Friday afternoon to one of our clients. We need to take the extra time and read over our emails and spell out the words, we dont need to use short hand. This is a work place environment so we need to conducted it in that way. We are not all caught up with the slang that is used today so lets use basic grammer and our business writing when we write email to each other. I understand this is the twenty first century and the technology is inproving and we can send email of our cell phones. Sending emails from our cell phones is fine it just need to be professional.
Our team members will not be fired for using short hand in there emails at this time. This is a warning to everyone in the office, I will be doing random checks weekly until this problem is resolved. Everyone apart of our team here is important and they have alot going in there lives at work and at home, this is a small problem that we can take care together. I appreciate all your hard work that each one of you do. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free and email me or call me.
Thanks,
Joshua McBride
