Post 3 Gender Equality in the Workplace

I agree with some points made in the article. I believe that they should implement the 12-month parental leave and recognize that men take care of children as well as the women. They said in the article that women have child care and education responsibilities and therefore wouldn't be as equipped to handling higher order jobs. As time progresses more men are taking on child care responsibilities as well. According to a report done in 2008 by Katherine Lewis, 49 percent of men take most or an equal share of child care responsibilities. I also agree with the no name job applications, however, I'm not sure how that would work. It would help employers not discriminate when looking through them but not sure how they would contact the person.

There are also a few points in this article that I do not agree with. Germany has incentives to have about 30 percent of board seats assigned to women with some companies with a minimum of 40 percent. I think this could have a reverse effect. If companies look too much into incorporating women into them then they may be missing out on a lot of men who could serve the company better. I don't think they should have a certain number of men or women in the workplace but should ultimately decide based on qualifications and experience.
