It sounds like Brian Busick has made some fantastic business decisions in his life. I am sure the writer left out his failures, if any, on purpose. Based on the article, Mr. Busick cannot make a bad decision when it comes to making money.
I would be interested to know what he did for advertising. Also, why did that first school call his restaurant in the first place? The article mentions that Mr. Busick invested $250,000 in a state of the art kitchen after adding 23 schools in 2006. What is not mentioned is the staffing requirements to go along with the volume. Growing that quickly in such a short amount of time is not easy. It can be difficult to find dependable employees with the correct requirements for providing lunches to school children.
The article makes it sound like he learned the school meal requirements, student and teacher requests and added more schools overnight. It also sounds like anyone can do it, but I believe it takes the right kind of person to get started in such an industry.
